The personal Ensor archive can be supplemented by secondary sources. To begin, we can consider the letters that were composed by Ensor and sent to various correspondents. In the archives of these correspondents, who also in their turn often were handed over in parts, we find importantHere also, the approach is often based upon the document level. This is problematic from an archival standpoint because an archival piece contains its full informative value only in the context in which it was composed.

We limit ourselves to the presentation of these entities to a representative selection, and in this way come by the archives of personalities such as Octave Maus, Emma Lambotte, Pol De Mont and André De Ridder.
